Using your own bike: You must provide evidence of current road tax, insurance and MOT (if applicable.) Your bike must be roadworthy and display full size L-Plates front and rear and. Your bike must not have an after market / noisy exhaust, if your instructor deems the bike unacceptable you will forfeit your training unless you hire one of MTS school bikes (if available) and pay the difference in cost. You must wear an approved safety helmet, motorcycle jacket and gloves along with a minimum of sturdy footwear and denim jeans without rips/tears. You are aware of the clothing requirements (see website) and that if when sat on the bike/moped, any skin shows between waist and toes (such as ankles) we WILL NOT continue with your training. You will not be refunded or rescheduled. If you arrive without any of the above you will forfeit your training. (We require 7 days notice to reschedule NRTC/CBTs & all cancelled training is subject to an admin fee as per our T's & C's)
Please note: For your safety you must be able to communicate in English & have a basic knowledge of the highway code to complete any training with MTS. You must also wear appropriate clothing and footwear and without this you will be sent away and forfeit your training and fees (we offer helmet, jacket and gloves with a size range between XS-2XL, if you require a size outside this range you must provide your own. MTS will not reschedule or refund your training if any clothing/equipment we supply is not suitable for you.) The list is non exhaustive but includes a minimum of jeans without holes, rips, tears, not skinny jeans nor shorts, skirts or track suits, and you must have sturdy footwear (ideally boots non steel toe cap) not sandals, Crocs, deck shoes or similar. For full licence training you must wear boots (not Moto-X nor steel toe cap) You are aware of the clothing requirements (see website) and that if when sat on the bike/moped, any skin shows between waist and toes (such as ankles) we WILL NOT continue with your training. You will not be refunded or rescheduled.
MTS Sussex like to give every student time to learn at their own pace, however the CBT is a group course therefore we have to progress as a group which is why we offer New Rider Training prior to the CBT. It’s vital for courses to start on time as there is a lot to cover. If you arrive late, we may have already started so you will forfeit your training. Please allow sufficient travelling time, and if you think you may have to cancel, let us know as soon as possible, we may be able to reschedule if we can fill your place, so you won’t forfeit the full amount. Equally the end time is merely a guideline, so please allow a whole day for the CBT.
If you are unsure that you will be able to ride for any size / height / weight reason, please contact us before booking. Although we offer a 'low bike' option, this does not guarantee the lower bike will be suitable for you, therefore If you book and are considered unsafe to use our bike you will forfeit the training / fee. The same applies for clothing supplied by us.
Government figures state 1 in 5 candidates do not attain a CBT certificate on their first attempt, so please be aware if you do not safely complete all exercises or cannot achieve the standard set out by the DVSA, you will be required to book additional training at your cost, no free training nor refunds partial or otherwise will be made. Manual bike riders: We recommend you book a NRTC prior to the CBT as we will have to terminate the training if you repeatedly stall the bike during the CBT. There will be no refund/free training offered in this case.
